neither can they
10:39 PMi know I'm human because
i laugh too hard
and i love too deep
and i cry when dogs die
and humans die
and hearts break
and for goodness sakes it hurts and it aches
it hurts
and it aches
i know I'm human because I just figured out that the reason leaves change in the fall is because they're dying
and nothing gold can stay
so neither can they

I just love this and I think I love you and it hurts and it aches
ReplyDeleteFor real about the leaves, though. I think about that all the time.
ReplyDeletewoah about the leaves, I never thought about it like that. thank you for opening my robot mind.
ReplyDeletei love how simple & straight forward your language is but it's still also extremely poetic
ReplyDeletei tried to copy and paste my favorite part into this little comment box but i ended up highlighting the entire post and figured that would be a bit much. but honestly, this whole thing is one of my all time favs
ReplyDeleteNice allusion to Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay." Very very impressive! I loved the line about coming to learn why leaves change color. I love the last two lines. I just love this a lot. Great job! Keep alluding to other poems. It brings so much more meaning without having to say anything more.
